The best advice I can give you is to use the tools and resources I used myself when learning to sell on eBay. First the story of how I got started as your probably in a similar situation.
I had decided to leave my job as a teacher and needed money to firstly move house and to least me while I got a part time job and started my own business, (this one and a few other Internet business ideas). I had heard about eBay but not given it too much thought. I had some professional video equipment to sell and I wasn't sure how to get my for sale list in front of the limited audience that would be interested.
So I took a look at eBay. I was immediately fascinated by the range of goods for sale. Sure the videos, games and DVDs where there, (so I bought a few!) but so where high value niche market items, lots, like my video gear. And they were getting many bids!
I read the help files on eBay and thought I understood the process but wanted to know more from people who were doing it. Of course I always had an eye to selling my stuff.
I immediately turned to a source I trusted and who's material I had read avidly in the past. Indeed these books had helped me create my first web sites. I had picked up HTML from books and tutorials on the Net but these books showed me how to develop my web sites and make them sell. No wonder Dr Ken Evoy who runs the company and wrote the first book I bought calls it Make Your Site Sell!
I remembered reading in the very informative newsletters he sends out about an auction selling book. I read the sales letter and bought it straight away. If your keen to set up your own web page but don't know any code or where to start. If you don't know about key words or search engines then another tool from Dr Evoy is his Site Build It.
